The morning paper by ~isoycrazy:iconisoycrazy:

I went to the corner
To buy the morning paper
And I looked up to see a cloud
But I saw a plane turning, turning,
Turning into the tower!
SMASH!  CRASH!
Went the plane as it hit the wall of glass
But it didn’t end there
SMASH!  CRASH!
Another plane hit the other tower.
I pulled the paper over my head
To protect myself from the falling glass
Hard as hail and sharp as a nail,
Need I say more?
I couldn’t bear it anymore,
So I ran away,
I didn’t want to stay.
I didn’t want to see it,
On that September morning.

Author's Comments

I wrote this poem about six years ago in the months after 9/11. Though I wasn't an actual witness to what happened at Ground Zero, I wrote this from the view of any normal person going to the corner and just getting a paper, like they would everyday, but this day would not end like the others.
